Childress House, charming historic downtown home

Enjoy your stay in a newly renovated and beautifully furnished home in the National Register of Historic Places. If you don’t want the hub-bub of Nashville but want to explore the Tennessee countryside, Murfreesboro is for you. My historic home is private yet located just off the main square, which is full of shops, restaurants and pubs and is the central-most city in all of the state!

Loved, loved, loved this place. It is comfortable, easily accessible and lovely decorated. I feel so lucky to have found this place. I can’t wait to come back and take advantage of the beautiful outside space when the weather is warm. Sandi is a wonderful host who goes out of her way to make you feel welcome. I highly recommend this place!

The House Exterior

The space

Built in 1847, its thick, plaster walls ensure privacy while its wrought iron fence ensures security. The enclosed grounds include a beautiful garden, a charming veranda, an extant root cellar, and an original stable.

Guest access

Can access all parts of the yard, the charming house patio, cozy side porch as well as private side yard–perfect for an alfresco meal, wine or coffee. You can sit out front on 2 private porches or on your own private side–whatever suits your mood. The parlor in the main house is accessible to all and a great room to have a chat or just settle in next to a wood burning fire in the comfy couches with a good book.

Sandi and friends made a surprise stay for my mother (who once lived at the Childress house) so special. They went above and beyond! This house is such a neat part in history that Sandi is so knowledgeable about! The Gardner room was great for 4 guests, both the bed and pull-out couch were very comfortable. We definitely will be coming back soon to stay 🙂

Interaction with guests

I want your stay to be awesome. I’ll be available 24/7 whether on or off the premises. I love to share my story with the house and the history of house and the town. At the same time I respect your privacy and wish for everyone staying here to feel at home, and to interact as much or as little as you please.

Where is The Childress House Located?

Other things to note

I am an animal lover and have 2 dogs and a (somewhat wayward) cat. They are limited to certain parts of the house and are not a distraction for those that are not animal lovers. However the dogs love our visitors and are a large part of the home.
Outdoor Lovers will love this space. I am a crazy gardener and have filled the grounds with beautiful flowers and gardens and many nooks and crannies to sit in and enjoy the great weather in Tennessee. (Smokers are free to smoke outside.)

It is handicap friendly with a ramp leading to the first floor entrance.
